We fully appreciate that many of you may feel nervous returning to your local whilst the virus is still at large in the UK so we wanted to share a few of the things that we are doing to help keep our customers and our staff as safe as possible. 

 

Safe distancing:

  • We will be using a one-way system inside the pub with a physically distant (1.5m) queue system starting at the front door of the pub with drinks taken out through the rear exit

  • In order to keep people at a safe distance, we will only have enough room for four tables of four inside the pub – two in the Corner Room and two in the Snug (these can be pre-booked by phone in two hour slots)

  • We will be making full use of our beautiful garden where more than 15 tables will be set at least 1m apart and where we’ll be able to seat between 2-6 people from the same household / bubble on each.  Our large marquee will protect you from the extremes of the weather and we also have some parasols to provide additional shelter from sun or (whisper it) rain

  • The majority of service – both food and drink – will be non-contact collection from the bar or outside food service area.  However, we will offer a reduced table service for those eating at the tables inside the pub

  • We will ask all our guests to pay by card only - preferably contactless.  No cash

 

Hygiene:

At the heart of everything will be an ongoing dedication to cleanliness.

  • When a table is vacated it will be cleaned with disinfectant

  • Our toilets will be cleaned on an hourly basis

  • There will be hand sanitising stations throughout the pub, both inside and out

  • All food will be served in disposable containers with disposable cutlery and condiments

  • All our menus and other information leaflets will be disposable

Track and trace:

  • To support efforts to respond quickly to anyone showing symptoms, we’ll be asking a representative from each group visiting The Royal Oak to leave their name and contact details (phone or email) on a card which will be dated and kept in our safe for 21 days after your visit (after this time they will be destroyed)

  • We have tried to make the process as simple and contact-free as possible and the cards will be available to be filled out as you are waiting to be served (do feel free to bring your own pen – although ours will be regularly cleaned)

 

Of course, this is as new to us as it is to you so please be as understanding and as patient as you can while we work out the kinks so that our team and our guests can enjoy The Royal Oak safely.
